Grass Picnic — Shade Tents and River Breeze

Our first order of business was claiming a spot on the grass. We set up a shade tent, camping chairs, a mat, and a play mat for the kids — instant cozy picnic setup. The 12,500㎡ grass plaza is spacious enough that we found a comfortable spot even on a weekend.

While dad watched the little one, the older kids ran around freely on the grass. The breeze from the Hangang River kept things comfortable. Note that shade tent use may be restricted outside the designated Family Healing Camping zone.

Spacious Skating Rink — Soccer, Scooters and More

The 2,000㎡ inline skating rink has a smooth paved surface that's perfect for scooters, bikes, and ball games too. Our kids brought a soccer ball and had an absolute blast running around the wide open space.

A huge bonus: the rink has tall LED lights (15m high, 1.6kW) that illuminate the area after dark, so kids can keep playing well into the evening.

Convenience Store Ramen for Dinner

There's a convenience store right in the park where you can grab hot ramen — a classic Korean riverside tradition. We set up our camping table, slurped ramen, and sipped Pocari Sweat. The kids loved it. Food trucks were also operating, though we didn't get to try them this time.

The Highlight — Color-Changing LED Night Trail

The most magical part of our visit was the LED night trail. After sunset, LED lights installed between rows of cypress trees come alive — shifting from red to purple to blue in mesmerizing patterns.

The kids were absolutely enchanted, running back and forth shouting "Mom! The colors changed!" Our daughter dashed through the red lights while our son posed for photos in the center of the purple glow. Combined with the bridge lights reflecting on the river, the nightscape was truly spectacular.

Honest Downsides

  • Shade tent restrictions — Outside the Family Healing Camping zone, tent setup may be limited. We found shade under trees instead.

  • Festival crowds — During the rapeseed (spring) and cosmos (fall) festivals, the park gets extremely crowded. Weekends see massive traffic jams even getting in. Visit on weekdays or off-festival periods for a relaxing experience.

  • Distant parking — While there are 800 spots, on busy days you may end up parking far from your destination. Strollers and heavy gear make this a challenge.

Pre-Visit Checklist

  • ⚽ Bring sports gear — soccer balls, badminton sets, or scooters for the open rink

  • 🪑 Camping chairs + mat — essential for grass relaxation; aim for tree-shaded spots

  • 🍜 Pack snacks — the convenience store is there but can be busy on weekends

  • 🌙 Arrive in the late afternoon — the LED trail shines after sunset, so plan to stay into the evening

  • 📅 Check festival dates — avoid rapeseed and cosmos festival periods if you want a peaceful visit

  • 👟 Comfortable shoes — you'll walk a lot between the grass, rink, and trails
