Gyeongju Trip Part 3 | Gyeongju World Rides + Daereungwon Tombs + Cheomseongdae Observatory

Gyeongju World's best feature: no lines. You can ride the same coaster 5 times back-to-back. And Daereungwon at sunset is simply beautiful.

Day 1 Afternoon Schedule

Here's how we spent the first afternoon of our 2-day Gyeongju trip — rides in the morning, tombs and observatory in the evening.

  • 11:10 — Enter Gyeongju World (stay until 15:00, about 4 hours)

  • 15:30 — Hotel check-in & nap

  • 17:00 — Daereungwon Tomb Park (Cheonmachong, Mich'uwangneung)

  • 18:10 — Cheomseongdae Observatory (~30 minutes)

Gyeongju World Ride Highlights

We arrived around 11 AM and stayed for 4 hours. The biggest advantage of Gyeongju World: almost no queues. We ate lunch, rode about 10 rides, and still had time to spare.

Rides We Tried

  • Draken — The newest and most popular. Three of our five went back for a second ride

  • Mega Drop — Feels like plummeting in an elevator. Scary even for the thrill-seekers in our group

  • Phaethon — Floorless rollercoaster, pure adrenaline

  • Tornado — We thought it was a gyro swing, but it rotates 230 degrees. Much scarier than expected

  • Krake — 360-degree flip. Only the boldest in the group tried this one

Summerlin Splash was under maintenance, so we missed it — definitely trying it next time.

Daereungwon Tomb Park (Cheonmachong)

We arrived around 5 PM and spent about an hour. The great burial mounds of Silla kings stretch across a vast green field — beautiful at any time, but especially stunning at sunset. You can enter Cheonmachong (Heavenly Horse Tomb) and see the interior.

Tip: the public parking lot is right in front of the entrance. Cheomseongdae is walkable from here, so you can cover both without moving your car.

Cheomseongdae Observatory

We walked from Daereungwon — about a 5-minute stroll. The observatory itself takes about 30 minutes to see. Great for photos, including the classic "pushing Cheomseongdae" pose. We wanted to see the night view too but had Hwangridangil and Donggung-Wolji next.
