Gyeongju Trip Part 4 | Hwangridangil Street Restaurants & Cafés + Donggung-Wolji Night View

Hwangridangil was the best part of the Gyeongju trip. Every corner is a photo op, and the atmosphere is uniquely romantic — a must for an evening itinerary.

Day 1 Evening Schedule

After Gyeongju World, Daereungwon, and Cheomseongdae, we headed to Hwangridangil for dinner. We arrived around 6:30 PM and could tell immediately it was the place — cute renovated buildings lining both sides of the alley.

  • 18:50 — Arrive Hwangridangil, dinner at Nangman Restaurant

  • 19:20 — Ovrene Café

  • 20:10 — Hwangridangil evening stroll

  • 21:00 — Donggung-Wolji night view

Hwangridangil Dining — Nangman Restaurant

One of Hwangridangil's most popular spots. I ordered the Nangman Sukiyaki — a clear broth hot pot that was delicious. My friend had beef belly and shrimp cutting board sets. Everything looked (and tasted) great. Other tables started filling up after they saw what we were eating.

Hwangridangil Café — Ovrene

A short walk from Nangman Restaurant. The interior is navy, gold, and marble — exactly my style. Coffee, strawberry milk, and desserts were all good. Would go back just for the vibes.

Hwangridangil Night Stroll & Photo Spots

We left the café around 8 PM and walked around as darkness fell. Hwangridangil's buildings are renovated old single-story houses with traditional roof tiles added — the result is a charming blend of old and new that photographs beautifully at night.

The crescent moon above the lit-up alley was stunning. Every spot feels like a photo set — we got our best couple shots here, and strangers were waiting to take photos in the same spots.

Donggung-Wolji (Anapji) Night View

Moved here around 9 PM. Operating hours: 09:00–22:00, last entry 21:30. The illuminated pavilions reflecting in the pond were beautiful — as expected. It is Gyeongju's busiest night spot though, so expect crowds. We also heard occasional train noise from nearby, which slightly broke the mood.
